Looked out the window, "Oh No! Its still raining!" By the time we got going it had stopped and began to clear. By afternoon it was sunny and 80 degrees! I wouldn't rain again until 5:00.
We headed east on I-90 stopping first at the "must stop" Wall Drug. Shopping galore, but famous for its nickle coffee. It still is! We enjoyed coffee and a delicious plain donut.
We continued east to Badlands National Park. We know we had been there before, couldn't recall when, but neither of us seemed to recognize it! The loop road goes through fantastical formations and areas of grassy plains. Once again, there were lots of people here! The formations remind us of Death Valley.
After completing the loop road, we headed back to Rapid City and on to Sturgis where we left the Interstate, went through Deadwood and Lead to pick up the popular Spearfish Canyton Scenic Drive which was quite nice with rock canyon walls and colorful fall foliage. By then it was raining a bit. We saw deer and rocky mountain goats.
Tomorrow Devil's Tower.
